![]() I am interested in staying compact like the DA300/305/310 for my particular situation. I believe this use case points me straight at the DA310. I am potentially interested in MAC address pass through in the future - I also have a Dell WD19TB dock for my work-supplied Latitude connected to monitor/keyboard/mouse which I operate on its own VLAN via wire (because we have found that work runs network mapping software and I'm not into letting them crawl my home network) but may wish to sometimes connect my new-to-me personal Latitude and use the MAC address to direct the port to different VLANs depending on which Latitude is connected. I have activated the "Control WLAN" feature in the BIOS (to shut down the Wifi interface when wired LAN is detected) - at first it didn't work but now it seems to (and I wasn't sure whether this feature only supported certain USB-C NICs). The system is often plugged in, using USB-C PD through the DA with a wired LAN port in my home office. My use case is going to be a personal-use Latitude and I am borrowing a DA305 right now to do some testing. DA310 might be Realtek? RTL8153?ĮDIT 2: Forgot to mention that I'm considering Linux dual-boot down the road. I'm wondering what other differences that might imply in under-the-hood details of implementation? Different/better/worse chipset? Different power/heat? Impact to modern standby in Win11? I don't need a VGA port but should I just get the DA310 to ensure the most features possible are supported?ĮDIT: DA305 appears to be ASIX AX88179A. As such, its not for everybody, though anybody that likes old-school cool will love it. The biggest one is that as an open-source product, it may be free, but it also lacks the polish of many industry leaders. Digging a little deeper it seems that that DA305 does not support PXE boot, MAC address passthrough, WOL etc. All in all, KeePassXC definitely earns mention among the, though it comes with some sizable asterisks. Looking at the PA305 and PA310, the high level literature leads one to believe that the only difference is the VGA port (6-in-1 vs 7-in-1).
